it's absolutely dangerous but so are moshpits and i don't hear anyone wishing to ban them. in the end the risk of any long term damage is pretty low imo. i think i don't think there should be laws preventing that. stagediving on the other hand though, that's batshit crazy and is dangerous for everyone involved

I totally read the room before pulling any of that shit. If the crowd is packed and people are going hard in the pit then I’m crowdsurfing and if there ain’t a barricade I’m probably gonna stage dive too.
Idk sorry, I don’t have a problem when other people do it.
But yeah trying to force a crowdsurf or a stage dive when the room is scattered and there’s hardly anyone there is dumb asf.
Having said that, if you’re in the middle/front of the pit, you should be expecting that kind of stuff imo. I needed 10 stitches after getting my shit rocked at a Harm’s Way show. But I mean like, take one look at those guys and the people that listen to them.
My point is, read the room. If you don’t want to mosh or get bruised up a little bit stick to the sides and in the back by the bar.

lmaoooo yeah I'd say a knocked loose show is maybe the most appropriate time and place on earth to do that
generally agree with the everyone else's responses tho

dude at the fleshwater show a couple weeks ago stage dived on top of me... and only me. Like this was not a crowded show by any means and I had like two feet of space between me and the next closest people. luckily i saw him jump off the stage and the dude was smaller so i was able to catch the brunt of the impact, but if I was smaller dude and/or jumped out of the way like a bitch that shit would've ended superrr badly

Stagediving is definitely dangerous but I want to do it once. I've definitely had a lot of luck crowdsurfing but it's very situational.

I've stage dived a decent amount in my day. Shit's fun. Never been injured either. Not a big dude though. I remember I went to one Harm's Way show back in college and the vibes were absolutely stupid though. A lot of pit jocks with something to prove, I guess lol. They were like crowd killing girls off to the side and shit. A huge fight broke out at one point, it was an utter shitshow.

I got punched in the head by code orange's tour manager? roadie? hired dumbass? because he was clearly mad no one showed up(there were 3 people in the crowd) and wanted to get us riled up. he was doing one of those insanely stupid hardcore dance seizure things where you flail your arms around and I wasn't looking his way as I was paying attention to the band, and he purposely punched me in the head full force. I was seeing stars and walked to the back of the bar. I caught my bearings and got in his face but he retreated to the back of the stage. I still want to fight that guy.

Yeah see that shit is fuckin lame.
We’re all there to have a good time, crowdkilling is for jock wannabes that know they’d get their asses kicked in a real fight

The arms flailing round kick power violence is so fucking dumb. Maybe I'm too old but shit ain't make any sense to me.
Stage diving is fine as long as it's the general vibe. If you're just trying to land on people who just wanna watch the band then I'm sorry but you deserve the ground.

Also, not cool when someone goes on stage and stomps the guitar player's pedalboard, or pulls a cable, shit breaks and then the crowd gets mad like it's the band's fault.

I'm front row every show I've been to and always anticipate stage divers and crowd surfers so that doesn't bug me. Used to mosh but don't much nowadays. When it comes to outright attacks the vocalist for hardcore band AshTray kept choking me with his forearm while running me across the room. I think he sensed that I was the main person in the crowd that could handle it most likely without snapping lol. Not gonna lie though after the 3rd or 4th time of him coming at me like that I was kinda ready to throw hands
