They really did not expect that song to be as universally loved as it is. Even people that hate the record acknowledge that’s the best song here

It's in my top 3 here as well. Probably one of Syn's all-time best solos

I can’t choose between that and Afterlife but it’s one of them for sure

This all feeds into my theory that the only songs they *have* to play at this point are Bat Country, Afterlife, Nightmare, and HttK. I really think they could get away with not playing Unholy Confessions at every show. They used to always close with it, now they don’t even do that anymore.
They cut So Far Away and ALPOH, which are mainstays but they for sure dont play them at every show, but they also cut Buried Alive which I never in a million years would’ve expected. It takes so much balls to not play some of your absolute biggest hits.
I’m certain they saw the unanimous praise for Cosmic and that’s why they’re playing it. As for why they’re doing random deep cuts from Nightmare, City of Evil, and the Stage, idk. Mad fucking respect for it tho

Honestly, it is really cool that they are playing deep cuts even though they are cutting out some of their best/most popular material. Still need to see this band live. What deep cuts are they playing btw?

Roman Sky and Blinded in Chains both come to mind. They’ve never played Roman Sky live aside from that acoustic performance and haven’t played Blinded in Chains in like 20 years. Pretty sure they haven’t played Save Me since the nightmare tour either.
Obv first time they’ve played Cosmic too.
They added Shepard of Fire which is popular as hell so maybe they felt like they needed to throw the singles fans a gimme lol. But if they were gonna add any HttK track I’m glad it’s that one. I don’t love it but it’s for sure one of the stronger songs on that record

yeah when I saw them I talked to like 10 people there who thought httk was the best so gotta throw them a bone lol

I also love how disinterested the band are whenever they have to play something from that album. Like "ok guys, let's just get this over with" lol

Even I would have digged Cosmic if it wasn't for the vocals

when they played the title track of httk when I saw them, shadows preceded it with "that's why you don't live or die by the radio" lmao

@onion
really proves how unbelievably easy it would’ve been to coast off of the success of HttK. They could’ve made another record like that in their sleep and lived like kings. Instead we got this and the Stage. There isn’t another band this mainstream that is willing to take that risk, nor one that has the talent to pull it off.
@kusangii
fuckin A. It’s literally their best song man
