i'm gonna have to eat some crow on arthur smith and the 2023 falcons

dude was awesome as the titan's OC and did some very interesting things and overachieved with arguably the worst rosters in the league in 2021 & 2022 in atlanta. this season was supposed to be the year it all came together and i absolutely expected them to win the nfc south or at least make the playoffs. instead they finish third in by far the league's worst division largely due to coaching malpractice, just a complete failure.

i think the falcons could still be spicy next year... just need to hire a coach who doesn't enjoy the smell of his own farts. they have the pieces at least on offense.

@slex that def seemed to be the expectation going into the season, but post-injury they may be able to bring him back for cheaper. vikings are in such a weird spot

fields will 100% playing for a new team next year though. falcons and steelers would make the most sense for cousins/fields in terms of roster & draft positioning but i certainly can't see the steelers doing something so ballsy. falcons seemed to be the team most in-play for lamar last offseason, and pushed super hard for watson the year before that. will prob be in the mix yet again.
