Best thing about this album is that it's so tame you can sneak some song on in parties. They aren't even noticing they are listening metal, muhahaha.

I used to play it from my boat while teaching sailing to middle-schoolers. They vibed with stuff that was like, adventurous, and it's a good gateway album for that mood.

My favorite part on this whole album has to be: "I FELL INTO A PIT OF LIES, I TRIED TO DIG AROUND THE OTHER SIDE" part. So good.

that extra percussion on sound with the snare drum in that part makes it go so hard. Love it.

That part i do not like. Sounds like they really needed to shove some lyrics in there and it sticks out like dog balls
Anywho ill always love this album because its really good and it finally got me into mastodon, and going backwards into that discog was fucking amazing lol.

Yeah, I feel this is symptomatic of this whole album. To me, it's almost Mastodon on autopilot... it was the most perfunctory I've ever found them. I think the tour/album cycle was at its height, and obvious band tensions took their toll in an overall lack of innovation (which wasn'ttheir M.O. in their first decade as a band).
Not bad, though... ai tend to put this on when want something I like, but not too taxing/gets me too much in the feels.
