I just think that's a bit of a weird thing to hone-in on, particularly within the metal genre in which lyrics have always been a little questionable. I mean for example you have NSV 5d (fair enough, good record) and fanboys can spout about how "poetic" Worm's lyrics were but at the end of the day lines like "In the kitchen with a screaming triple amputee/Its completion depends solely on my needs" from Phobophile are frankly much less tasteful than the lyric you chose from the title track here.

And yeah I fully realise this is a common aesthetic in DM but at the same time if lyrics are incomprehensible, which most of the time they are, I don't see how it's much of a problem with regards Sunbather.

the problem is these guys take their bad lyrics seriously

I'm not sure how that affects the music here, that's more of an exterior issue if it's indeed the case

i understand your sentiment but the fact is that evaluating music with lyrics must take into account lyrical content.

if you can overlook bad lyrics great, but in this case the bad lyrics are more of an indicator for failings elsewhere than an actual fault.

eeeuuuhhhh idk i understand both sides of the argument, but my view is that in this style, the sound and aesthetic of the

vocals is way more important than the lyrics themselves (using them as "another instrument" rather than the focal

point)....they are literally incomprehensible if you're not reading along, so i dont think it detracts from the music, even if

they are cheesy and melodramatic

This is pretty bad even without looking at the lyrics though, so that's kind of a moot point.

@PunchforPunch No, the vocals and riffs are just monotonous and completely forgettable once I get past the first two tracks. Everything after that starts to blend together and it gets so boring.
