True, it's not exactly deathcore, but it's one of the most deathcore sounding tech death albums out there. A shame they went downhill after this, even though I enjoy some Autotheism's tracks

I can easily label this album as tech death. Akeldama is definitely a bit more of a tech death/deathcore hybrid.

this has always been extremely catchy and accessible to me so I've never understood people labelling it as excessive wankery, like it's not even that techy really

Completely agreed. This one has tons of hooks by tech/prog-death standards

I mean how many tech death albums do you really need? I'd probably be good with this and Necrophagist. Maybe that new Archspire.

Haha, I listen to a lot but yeah only a few really stay in my brain. I obviously enjoy the ones I enjoy, but I like to listen to all the others just to see how technical and inventive the music is.

Well that's just it. I know you are a shredder so this makes perfect sense, but I like to listen to them to see what they have on display but only come back to my small handful of albums that are kind of the shining examples of the genre.

Pretty sure I've mentioned this elsewhere, but this was the very first thread I ever visited on Sputnik before I joined :] it was allll the way back in 2008

I actually like their whole discog (live is a different story), but this is the best.

Absolutely adored Autotheism but I might be starting to prefer this one
