I still maintain that Ghost Reveries is a better version of this album.
|

Indeed, but it still can't top Still Life as my favourite Opeth album though

Still Life has some moments I just find genuinely dull, and Serenity Painted Death is one of my least favorite Opeth tracks.

The variation on Still Life is top notch imo and The Face of Melinda is one of my favourite songs ever but yeah each to his own I guess :]
I've also been enjoying Watershed a lot lately, might bump it up to a 4.5 too

" and Serenity Painted Death is one of my least favorite Opeth tracks."
thank you! I find it a good song, but it gets way too much praise compared to others like White Cluster or Godhead's

SPD is pretty good

Still Life begins and ends incredibly strong (The Moor and White Cluster). Everything in between kind of roller coasters in quality.

tell that to my face!

Somehow I knew you were gonna disagree with me on this one Angel... Starting to get used to it haha

It's alright. Not everyone's going to have the same opinion about a band with this many albums.
"Tell that to my face of Melinda."
One of their most overrated songs.

It's alright. Not everyone's going to have the same opinion about a band with this many albums.
But we never have the same opinion about anything :]
except for obvious stuff like Hvis Lyset Tar Oss and Mysteriis Dom Sathanas...
Oh and that Stormblast and F.O.A.D. are awesome too.

Do you enjoy prog in general Chambered?

This isn't my favourite opeth album, but its surely the one that made me an instant fan. I remember when i was amazed at how brilliant i thought 'the leper affinity' was at first listen, and am still amazed listening to it nowadays. And the title track, remaining one of my all-time opeth favourites, is so damn epic! Timeless is what i would call this...
