It's weird, this is really bleak and stuff, but Skinny Fists is really an album where I don't know what mood I have to be in. Pretty much every emotion is felt on that one as opposed to this which is really grim and subtle as you say.

Love them both, I'd say the best moments on Skinny Fists are better than the stellar moments on here. However, I think this is more cohesive.

This is certainly more cohesive yea. I think Skinny Fists is my favorite though because every single note and moment on that record is vital to the story that forms in your head. The beauty of that record is that there is no concept behind. The record is your own.
I kinda feel like this drags at points and that four minutes of silence I hate, but this is some of post rocks best overall at the same time.

That's the key difference between the two albums; F#A# creates a clear-cut atmosphere in which you can wander around in for an hour, while Skinny Fists acts as a soundtrack to the movie it creates in your head

I've always thought the atmosphere in this painted a more interesting picture than Skinny Fists so I always thought this was better
