This sounds like a regression from Sunburnt honestly

i loved Sunburnt & Unsound.... It made me so sad that we never get a full album revolving around material in that style

Damn those songs were the shit but I'm holding out hope.

This release will prove if there is a single band left from my childhood that will retain the same amount of personal esteem they started with.

Among my list of the deceased: The Used, Bullet for my Valentine, Killswitch Engage, Relient K, and, most recently and by far the longest to admit, Trivium. Trivium and Underoath still make up 1 and 2 all time though.

I'm really digging the new song, getting some LITSOS-vibes from it

Huh, didn't know they had a new track. Seriously though this album is so good I think even people who didn't like their previous albums to this one, could find things they like on here. The songwriting on this is their peak songwriting imo. Also there's a lot of conviction in the songs.

Especially songs like 'To Whom It May Concern' a longer song than usual for them.

I didn’t say the pop undercurrent was bad but I’m sorry you equate pop with bad music

"sputnik...

the only site where bitter pretentious people will rip on a legendary band's first single in 8 years. this band BROKE up in 2011 and have come back and unleashed a truly awesome track full of the same energetic power they had over a decade ago. This has a massive NIN influence in it.

but it has a "pop undercurrent", "the production is flat", "sounds mainstream and radio friendly", and "lacks atmosphere".

type of fucking idiots that would complain about anything "

Haven't you learned anything about this site in your 8 years here? I swallowed that reality quite a while ago.

Honestly has anyone here actually been shitting on the song? Structural critiques and production complaints are legitimate criticisms regardless of how accurate they are in relation to this song. They would have been levied 8 years ago as well. Every time I hold out hope for an intelligent comment from u bro and I feel like its just a waste of time.

There's nothing "structurally" wrong with the new song.

No but there isn't anything particularly interesting about it either. This band is at their best when they are able to really showcase their talent and separate themselves from their peers and imo when they do that is when they play around with atmosphere and song structures. I like this track, but it doesn't blow me away which is ok.
