The album itself is overrated, however, it's hard to overstate the importance. Changed the landscape of mainstream rock music.

it changed the landscape of 90's rock music, yea

Who seriously cares if they changed what styles would be cool enough to be contained in the 0.0000000000000001% of music that is the mainstream. Sure a load of old, now "cool" bands got signed to major labels. But it hardly changed the musical landscape in terms of ideas.
You want change, look at Spiderland. An album that only maintained its importance via word of mouth and can still be heard in the corners of rock music today.
Nirvana did not bring forth any sonic innovations. Any revolution credit they received should be handed over to the myriad of bands Kurt praised in his short time in the limelight.
