This was the hardest grower in their discog for me, took a while to marinate but man does it taste good these days. Man I'm hungry for these sweet juicy riffs now.

This one clicked with me within the first 30 seconds of Overactive Imagination.

But I guess it was still a grower, if only for the fact that I used to like some other Death albums more than this. But the more I listened to it, the more I began to realize this was much better than the others.

I liked this a lot at first but didn't immediately compare it to their very best works. Now I might even consider it their best.

Overactive Imagination is good too, Philosopher outshines the rest easily so far though. But this surely feels like a grower so i won't rate until i figured it out

Production wise, Human Remaster sounds a lot better than this though

Trapped In A Corner is my fave here, I think. Production rules on both albums, I love how prominent the bass is on this, which is fortunate because it's also beyond awesome.

Bass is great agreed but it lacks the transparency and clarity that Human's remaster has - it just sounds muffled in comparision

Not sure how anyone can think The Philosopher greatly outshines the rest on reflection, it’s not exactly a major departure in sound & the album is consistent. Weird one.

Only ever saw them on that tour they did the UK and the europe and came back and finished it at Bradford Rios which was a hotbed for death metal bands then. Crowd was only half full maybe less at the first show but they were great and the bradford show was just stellar. Had a drink with them and watched teh soundcheck and Chuck got us some Control denied tapes and we took him the chippy. Good night : )
