I'll admit, this greatly exceeded my expectations. I was thinking this would be a 3.5 based on the singles, but the singles ended up being the weakest tracks on here for me. My rankings:

Radiant City

Error

Headless

Pompeji

The Spell of Mathematics

Ceremony

This Link Is Dead

Urantia

Genesis

Ohms

Not sure I can rank this yet, still don't have a definitive favorite

I'd prob put Ceremony last though, just doesn't have the same meat on the bone as all the other tracks.

Agreed, this might be my favorite album of theirs. It's grabbed me over and over like none of their best work has. Love the atmospheres on this. Wish it were longer and slower.

The Link is Dead makes me think of Five Point O and of how much I miss this band.

It's cool to be a part of this massive thread for this album, fun to participate in the community discussion. I feel like it's such a rare thing on Sputnik nowadays - most threads die fast and never amass even 1/20 of the discussion this has.

I like this but I’m not losing my mind like a few of you here.

I’m only about three proper listens deep though and it seems to be getting better each time. It’s ridiculous how much better the singles sound with the album flow.

Update after a few listens:

Very stylish and has a really intriguing atmosphere that keeps me coming back. Definitely not their best and maybe not among their best but for sure it's no slouch and an interesting album. Musically it's excellent but I feel Chinos melodies are below average, though the lyrics are pretty good.

I put this as similar to although better than the s/t record.

The flow is incredible. All songs are strategically placed here and they sound better if you listen to them in the context of the album.

For anyone who likes this please do yourself a favor and listen to "Arbiter" from Hopesfall. It is also very riff and drum centric just like Ohms plus the band is also influenced by Hum.

"or just listen to inlet by hum"

That as well even though I admit I binged Hum's discog one time only (except for Astronaut which I have listened to on several ocassions). I need to invest more time with them for sure.
