TS is probably their best in my mind. But mwY have probably the most highly consistent output for me out of like... Any band? Just praying that if they release new music again it doesn't go the way of new thrice and underoath and to a lesser extent as cities burn. Like as it stands they have no bad albums imo

Considering how many more levels they added to their musicality on this one, I doubt they'd slip. Here's to hoping though. This untitled thing quickly became my favourite, though BS is a close second currently.

Idk, with the exception of Matadors (which is underdeveloped imo, lots of stunning individual sections but it both hits its stride and drops the ball too early with that second verse), Michael (which does not need a sequel) and ig W&B, this felt like a pretty straightforward expansion on the PH sound with less intrigue and a lot more blockbuster value that isn't really what I associate with mwY's strengths
If they ever follow this with anything, I hope they reinvent themselves in a similar way to how It's All Crazy... straight up refused to follow in B,S' footsteps

also ngl dude whenever I see your name crop up I get you confused with Eons and my heartbeat shudders to a halt for a second while I get ready to turn my brain off. always relieved when I actually see your content, but it's a freaky neighbourhood

This and PH are the two acceptable answers for mwY's best
I do have soft spots for TS and B,S though

'also ngl dude whenever I see your name crop up I get you confused with Eons and my heartbeat shudders to a halt for a second while I get ready to turn my brain off.'
Haha. Fortunately the two are pretty easily distinguishable for me.
This and the debut are still my fave mwY, probably an odd combo.

the debut is the only absolutely in no circumstances acceptable answer for fave mwY so yes lol very odd

holy crap johnny left the door open for It's All Crazy being their best (it is)
|
| |
It ain't, but there are a lot of special tracks on that album and the reasons why it's not the best pale in comparison to A-B's, so it has an outside chance and I can respect that take

For me:
1. [Untitled]
2. Pale Horses
3. Ten Stories
4. Brother, Sister
5. Catch For Us The Foxes
6. A:B Life
7. It's All Crazy
Also worth noting that the top five are all 5/5's or damn close, lol

It's All Crazy is the only mwY album that genuinely gets under my skin
I still have it 3.5'd lol

wouldn't ever expect new music unfortunately. Almquist did an AMA today and confirmed that 2/3 way into recording Untitled Aaron just said he wouldn't be able to do another album. considering the lyrics to Michael/Break on Thru it sure seems like the toll on him to finish lyrics each time was too much
worth reading the whole thread tho. turns out Aaron has the exact same feelings about Birnam Wood as I do lol
|
| |
Birnam Wood is their boomer prog noodle song and it's p nice
But yeah, expecting new music is sad but silly at this point
