"I recently learned there's a 2-disc version of this album, but unfortunately it's no longer in print and it's not all that available/cheap used."
Just get the Collector's Edition from Pablo Honey to HTTT. All 2-Disc versions and many great b-sides to choose from.
"Bullet Proof is as about boring as Radiohead gets (bottom 3 with High and Dry and Blackstar,)"
Wrong. "Bulletproof..." is as beautiful as the other ballads here.
This is one of my favorite Radiohead albums but I could do without "Just". "Black Star" is ok, but everything else is pretty solid imo.

Love both those. Only song i dont like the most is bones i guess, bit too 90s grungey

Still prefer "Bones" as I think it brings more energy but I do agree it is too much 90's alt rock and kinda sticks out from the rest of the songs for better or for worse.
Can't go wrong with any of the ballads here tho and I like "High and Dry" more than most people lol

The ballads here are classic yeah. Fake Plastic Trees is top 3 Radiohead for me, but the others are timeless too.

“Woke”

their rock sound isn’t vanilla dad rock enough for rowan
|
| |
besides the few vanilla dad rock songs on this album, mind you. But this album hardly defines their rock sound, they were still pretty young...
|
| |
their rock sound is the epitome of vanilla dad rock

Like, maybe if you consider “the bends” or “creep” to be the epitome of their rock sound. But that’s not woke, that’s muy silly.

I mean obviously the more abstract stuff that came later is better, but I enjoy most of their straightforward rock songs as well. Although yeah some of the stuff on Pablo Honey is below par.
|
| |
but judging Radiohead off of Pablo honey or even the bends for real is fucking stupid
