the main guy from deathspell was friends with Luc, he went to quebec some years ago to meet up with Luc, both can speak french so thats kinda cool. no doubt they are kindred spirits, and saw luc wearing DsO shirts too probably, in interviews

They’re easily in the running if not THE best disso band (they pretty much are for me though). A lot of the bm bands that would go on to copy them don’t really hold a candle. In bm, Blut Aus Nord, Thorns, and Ved Buenes Ende could probably stand toe to toe with them somewhat but only Blut Aus Nord has a comparable amount of excellent releases and all of those aren’t necessarily disso. Gorguts and Ulcerate are on fairly equal footing with them, though. I’d entertain Ad Nauseum and Thantifaxath in the discussion too but they both need more material. Arty Brain also probably deserves a mention.

It's Ulcerate hands down for me, but yeah there's plenty of amazing ones. I don't think Ved Buens Ende fits into that group and not really Thorns either, but great mentions nonetheless.
