The Bends is an excellent alt. rock album but I prefer most of what they did afterwards.

As a result of me earlier waffle I’m listening to this again with fresh ears. Perspective of being born in 1998 and completely missing the whole rise and what have you of this band.
How to Disappear Completely is bloody unbelievable.

Alternatively I could put myself in the mind of a 13yr old, which is the age I was when creep came out.

Someone who is 13 now. The age I was when Creep came out and I liked it, a lot but still found it a pastiche of American grunge without a sense of its own place.
Having had a look I was actually 12 going on 13.

Having had a double double look turns out I was 13 going on 14. It was the re-release that I remember and where it took off in the charts.
