For me it's Michael, Julia, and Wendy & Betsy

Julia is so perfect, such a gentle song.

gentle but there's def some intensity bubbling beneath the surface

it's the tension that makes it perfect

I think New Wine New Skins has become possibly my favorite mwY song

Some cracking lyrics too, but that's typical for mwY tbh.

He's extremely gifted in the lyrical department.

Not many songwriters can simultaneously be fun and poignant.

The references to Belle and Sebastian in New Wine is so delightfully unexpected and of course dovetails so wonderfully with the rest of the song lyrically

I think Samson is still my all time favorite but mwY is my favorite band and Weiss is a close 2nd

Still think they bungled the opening part of the tracklist. Did they not realize how AWESOMELY Julia flows into 9:27am, 7/29 and then how INCREDIBLY that flows into Hydra?? The rest of the tracklist is fine. Consult me for more spicy but meaningless takes.

I mean hey, I think everybody has those certain track placement gripes from time to time. I'm still fucking salty to this day that Abbey Road kept Her Majesty as a hidden track rather than including it in the medley between Mr. Mustard and Polythene Pam

I was loving this and Pale Horses but haven't listened to this album since I saw them open for Thrice on the Vheissu tour and totally underwhelm. They weren't even bad in the sense that I've been avoiding them, the performance was just so meh that it made me totally forget that they and these albums existed for more than a year - which is probably even worse

I know that tour was rough for them - their drummer got hella sick for a lot of it and even had to miss a couple weeks. Their shows are usually really good.
