Just because I dislike this doesn't mean I'm being contrarian for the sake of it, which is mighty presumptuous and somewhat ironic in how 'edgy' it reads. Quite simply, I think this is a downgrade from what he has previously done and what I believe he is capable of. The Pulitzer is a gesture that could have been extended years prior, and in my opinion its awarding feels delaying. Important? Sure. But I don't put it beyond just being a symbol that's behind the times. You can feel free to disagree, but to assume I believe this just to be opposite is pretty baseless.
