This is the only one I go back to.

Relayer's my favorite, but the title track on this is just pure transcendental bliss
|
| |
The title track is easily the best thing they ever did. Listened to it on vinyl earlier today and bliss really is the word.

Fragile is great but really its too disjointed or fragile if you will
|
| |
This is definitely their hemispheres tho, perfect from beginning to end

Fragile's great and all, but it's moreso a bunch of segments showcasing each individual member's prowess and a few songs where they bring their ideas together to great effect. It was the same with ELP's debut.

| |
Yet ELP's debut is their most consistent and cohesive.

" but really its too disjointed or fragile if you will"
This is what makes it great.
Honestly, as far as epic songs go I prefer Starship Trooper, South Side of the Sky, and Heart of the Sunrise to the stuff on here, even though the t/t is probably my 4th favorite of their epics.

Yeah, though there were flashes of brilliance on all their albums up until Works II

Fragile has some great songs, but it also has a lot of filler.

That bass line in the t/t is so good

After previously checking a few other Yes songs I was dreading listening to this but...no one who 5's The Soft Bulletin could honestly rate this below at least a 4/5

Prog isn't my favourite genre - the decent stuff is as good as it gets a lot of the time though

yeah same actually, whereas im often let down by the high ratings of say rush or genesis, this actually is top notch stuff all around
|
| |
Genesis didn't click with me much at first but I've grown to love some of their stuff
But yeah, they're prob still my least fave of the "big" prog bands

Album Rating: 4.5
I'll actually pick up a copy of this, can see my rating possibly going up after repeat listens
|
| |
Yes have always been a contender for my least favourite of the "big" prog bands but this album's title track is close to being a masterpiece. I could quite happily live the rest of my life without hearing any other Yes song bar that one.
