Pretty even tbh
Adrenaline sounds way more inspired then this though and it actually has some top Deftones tracks so I would have to give the edge to Adrenaline.

Adrenaline has the energy but that's about it for me

adrenaline has that understated reggae influence to some of the songs which makes it a bit interesting, can't say the same about the songwriting though. Bored is horrendous.

Bored is one of the more tolerable songs on Adrenaline.

at least certain songs on adrenaline make me wanna mindlessly throw down and mosh, I just don't get hardly any feelings from tracks off this.

Bored is probably my least fave off Adrenaline, but seeing them end a show with it made me appreciate it way more.

For me, calling Adrenaline better than this in any shape or form whatsoever is crazy.

Alright 1 and 3 are subjective but there is no way 2 is true on any level
"2) No way is Adrenaline more inspired than this."
In other words: No way is the band's first album more inspired then the band's eighth album.

at least adrenaline doesn't have a awful gimmicky guitar solo
edit: alex is mad right. I mean even if you don't like the sounds on adrenaline you can't deny they had a lot of inspiration. They were able craft a album that honestly sounded somewhat unique for the time (which is more than i can say for gore) and it got enough attention for them to pave the way for the rest of their career.
One of the only other well known albums that even sounded remotely similar to adrenaline was korn's debut which came out in 94, but even then deftones had been churning out demos for the album back in 93.

Saying a band's debut HAS to be more inspired than their Xth album after it, is stupid. Just because a certain piece of art is the artist's first one doesn't mean it has to be his most inspired one. It can easily be far less inspired than his 50th one. Inspiration comes whenever it wants to. It's once again subjective.
Also Adrenaline is ever so slightly better than your average nu-metal album, and I can't find anything that unique in it.

1)They're pretty equivalent in my eyes, for completely different reasons
2) Inspired is a trite buzzword, Adrenaline has the youthful energy and zeal whereas Gore is still as creative/ambitious as anything they've done imo The passion has barely waned and their life performances really reflect this. I actually don't mind Gore at all, its just a little bit too subdued (and complacent) to make it a 4+ like their other material.
3) Bored is a good song [2]
