Precious, effete, pseudo-affected miserablist altkid-fodder that resonated enough with this new entitlement generation that it managed to avoid the late 90s throwaway bin that it rightfully deserved. I can imagine Yorke's face pucker into a spoiled pout with every line he lisps, and in the pallid cabbage of his face I see everything wrong with most people born after the 80s. If you'd rather listen to this or The Smiths than any given 70s hard rock album, we're not from the same planet, you and I.

i kind of forget what a big deal this record was, and how disappointed some people were, like now it seems quite funny but back then some people were bummed

I have a relevant real life example that still persists and honestly it does amuse me. Only because the guy has the most vanilla indie / alt rock-orientated taste imaginable, yet is a self-professed 'pretentious music nerd'. I remind him this is better than The Bends / OKC whenever I can.

"i kind of forget what a big deal this record was, and how disappointed some people were, like now it seems quite funny but back then some people were bummed"
in general radiohead are probably a band easier approached/appreciated retrospectively
i got into 'em shortly after HTTT, can't imagine what it actually would have been like only knowing them as the band with those first 3 albums then bam, album 4 is... this
