Dominion, this is better than darkside. This album is close to being the master work of its genre.

DM you only heard it today and you haven't heard much prog. You're going strong just open your mind a little bit.

Yeah you cant say this is top prog after hearing barely 5 prog records

You're a strange user, Decaying.
|
| |
lol where do I begin? ;)
First you say In the Court of the Crimson King is the best prog album out there after only hearing 3 prog albums, then you 5 a Floyd album before even hearing it in it's entirety and then claim several hours later that that album is arguably the best prog out there.

"Dominion, this is better than darkside."
yeah except it's not. this is a collection of outstanding songs; dark side is an ALBUM in the purest sense.

Couldn't disagree any more. The concept of this album is the best Floyd have ever done! It's social commentary at it's best.
I really don't know what to say about DSOTM being an album in it's purest sense because it simply isn't. There are weak links and to record an album like that was considered unique at the time for a record of its popularity.

i really wasn't talking about the lyrical concepts of either record, although dark side's concept is better because it's much more universal and human. and no, there is no musical weak link on dark side. it flows perfectly, like it was composed as a single piece almost; that isn't the case with this.

Each to their own and I'm a big fan of DSOTM, but I like the structure of this record. In fact I fucking love it. An album doesn't automatically get the nod because it flows perfectly - think about the snow goose.

if it flows perfectly and every track is outstanding either on it's own or as a segue ( ie serving its respective purpose) then it definitely gets the nod

It's a feather in its cap of course, but it's not make or break I'm afraid.
