Employed to Serve is Converge but 20 years younger and angsty as fuck

Gaza is pretty rad, and The Armed has Ben drumming for them.

You're asking for something really hard. Their identity is pretty unique for me. You know Pig Destroyer (mainly Terrifyer) already and you don't like much (and there's no bass there lol). You have Conjurer's debut and EP that give me a lot of Converge vibes. I'll try harder and PM you if something comes up.

PS: Employed to Serve is a good dig to in that matter, but their debut f.e., is much more ETID than actually Converge.

EDIT: Oathbreaker, All Pigs Must Die and a lot of things from Deathwish Inc label.

Thanks guys, yeah a couple of those things are on my radar but hadn't heard of them all. I'm going to temporarily replace my fairly long-standing DM kick with a metalcore kick just to see if I can find anything else I like.

Got some old school/classic stuff to check & then whatever takes my fancy really.

Want some metalcore recs dude? It won’t all sound like Converge because they’re pretty unique but yea

I'm just going to peruse the charts & lists for the time being but I'll definitely ask when the time comes, if I get that far. Thanks :-)

Only just discovered Zao so I'm very behind, haha

It's unreal what a tremendous misstep this is in their discography. Both the album before and after this were excellent

Agreed. Not counting halo, which I haven't heard, this is easily their worst.

I like it a bit more than you obv but I agree. Jacobs vocals on this just don’t do anything for me, and those first five tracks are inconsequential.

Disagreed. Album goes hard but took a long time for me to appreciate

Don’t even bother with halo tbh, I’ve listened to it twice and Undo and Antithesis are the only ones that stick out, and that’s probably because I originally heard them on other releases.

I didn't like this at all after my first listen but now I'd rank it above WFCC. and Halo of course

This lands in 5th place for me in their discography but it still melts my face off

I definitely wouldn't have this at a 4 if it wasn't for Grim Heart/Black Rose. but that song is a masterpiece and makes up a good chunk of this album's run time
