Just went to listen to some Thy Slaughter and it sounds absolutely nothing like this - very electronic-based... and the fact that I've never heard of them means it's hardly comparable to someone of Charli's status releasing an album that so subverts expectations.

So yeah... still waiting for an example that is even a little similar to what Charli's done here.

And yes - I agree that something being surprising or subverting expectations doesn't necessarily equate to "good", but that comes down to personal taste. Many of us love the sound of what she's dong here, others don't. No big deal.
