Both bands are goated, that is for sure.

Tho I gotta say neurosis felt like a disappointment following Converge, but tbh I can’t really think of many bands that could follow these guys and *not* come across as a disappointment

I still don't really get the band but at least instrumentally, this is probably the most I've connected with them.

About having to listen to them many times - sure was the case with Jane Doe because of how chaotic it was, but after that their stuff has been way more straightforward, haven't really felt like I needed many listens to appreciate any of their newer stuff. but I do miss their slow, depressing ballads

“And I dunno, he strikes me as somebody that’s probably really into post rock and metal and I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a big hand in the slower songs on each record.”
I have an old terrorizer mag where he picks Oceanic as one of his favourite records.

Love the title track, probs my fav across the two '26 albums, but prefer LINE overall

Make Me Forget You is probably my favorite across both but I actually like this record more tbh, I like the noisier sound they went for here

didn't force it, spend some time apart
like it better now, we are cookin' (sorta)
I'm definitely preferring it to LINE as that just sounded like a weaker version of what came before. I think leaning on the noise rock isms a lil more makes sense at this stage in their timeline, but it still sounds unmistakably like 'verge in some respects. In all honesty I wouldn't have been upset if they'd gone even further in trying to really separate this from their past material

As always with me and Converge. On release hype as fuck and love it but ln reflection and after time has passed: I do not revisit this that much. Still solid stuff and material

I am a bit surprised that the slower approach of this album resonates that well with me. This might be my favorite post Axe To Fall album

that groove midway through detonator is everything

Its decent but it had me wondering if Converge had trained an AI tool on their backlog and got it to churn out this album.

We're really at the point where people are questioning Converge's authenticity as a band lol
AI was a grave mistake and needs to be destroyed.
