the message is, as a whole, absolutely on the level of their previous full lengths, the stargate does drag for me just a bit

Yeah, I'm convinced these guys can't drop a bad LP at this point.

Checked this out exclusively because midwife is opening for them and really enjoyed it. Hyped to see these guys live in a couple months

bumped my rating for this because if any other band had done it I'd have automatically 3.5'd it as per usual. Also had to bump their first two records to account for this, metal nerds take another W from me D:

>”If you like dad rock and appreciate death metal you won't have any problem getting through this record.”

Reminds me of some kid reading their essay in front of the class:

“So, if you like dad rock and appreciate death metal, then Blood Incantation’s ‘Absolute Elsewhere’ just might be the album for you.

“The end.”

I honestly slept on their last two albums, but I might have to go back and listen to those too. This is so good.

Closing track is pretty great but I still can't really get into the blatant Pink Floyd rip in track 1.

I think my problem with it is it just feels like it was just straight up lifted out of a Floyd album rather than it just being an influence to their sound.

So many good segments here... Those last minutes of The Stargate [Tablet III] is so Alkaloid-ianly amazing.

I'll probably bump this to a 5 by the end of the week. I have zero notes. I'm split between Stargate 3 and Message 3 being my favorite tracks.

The dub section on Stargate is so out of left field but works so God damn well.

The only jarring part for me is the blatant Shine On You Crazy Diamond reference on Message II

I really am not a fan of the complete Pink Floyd rip off in the first song, feels so out of place especially compared to the face melting dm riffs right after [2]

Took me out of my initial listen. It's less emulation, more imitation. As a package, the album is solid and very accessible, but something is lost relative to Hidden History and Starspawn.

I discovered State Faults and Blood Incantation earlier this year before either band released their records and I can't believe what a pleasure it has been to realize I was "there when they released it...."
