I like Swift a lot when she's not trying so insanely hard to appeal to a younger demographic. Her latest was very much a "oh Sabrina Carpenter is popular, I'll emulate her, hello fellow kids" vibe and it was pretty cringe. I like when she just does her own thing. Most of the time she's one of my favorite pop songwriters.

The TLDR version, at least from my understanding, is that:
- Rodrigo very publicly viewed Swift as an idol of hers
- She said in an interview that her song Deja Vu was directly inspired by Swift's song Cruel Summer
- Swift then sued Rodrigo and won, and I believe was awarded royalties for the song
It's viewed as a pretty bad look for Swift given how new Rodrigo was to the industry at the time compared to Swift being more of a veteran, on top of the fact that Rodrigo seemed to look up to her.
