ye np I just wanted to touch on it quickly instead of circlejerking over team head trauma sports on the JJ thread. tbf I pay zero attention to lyrics ever so my enjoyment was purely musical, had good riffs and I liked the return of the rapZ
But lets get back to Hail the Sun, Chunker is probably my favourite on this so far, I'm hoping they come back to Canada to play soon

NFL is infinitely better than anything DGD have ever accomplished and actually provides happiness as opposed to Tillian performing his fuckboy routine for the millionth time, and any new single probably deserves about as much attention as a new Attila single. Which is to say, absolutely no attention at all. Although there's more than one thread for JJ so feel free to choose the most boring option available if it suits you!

The NFL produces less brain damage than listening to Tilian era DGD.

Fair I just prefer NBA and NHL vastly over football lol, its slow and a slog to watch for me. I'd also prefer if Til wasn't around cause I enjoy all the other aspects of their music.

Hopping in the HTS thread to dunk on all of us talking football in the worst DGD album thread is a strange move

I'm not, yall should do your thing, but I honestly didn't think it was the place to bring up the new single because of it though. Maybe here wasn't either though to be fair so my bad

I thought it was a shot too, my bad and good point. I am not sure where the correct place to discuss the new dgd single would be since their most recent albums thread has been hijacked haha

There is a JJ thread that focuses solely on the alb, the alb as a whole has iirc 4 different reviews for it. However, when all is said and done, this reaction to DGD in 2023 should be expected when considering the band's personal baggage and drama. It is what it is.

Guy who’s fav band is Hail The Sun here
Album rips. This band was always the best in the whole scene they were in. They continue to essentially outlive almost all of their contemporaries. Kinda astounding.

Been spinning this a bit this weekend -- it's very consistently good, in a way that overcomes swancore's inherent lack of variety, but the highlights aren't quite as high as New Age Filth
except Tithe, Tithe slaps

"Vic's vocals kill it for me in addition to the lyrics. He puts that weird baby voice inflection on so many lines that it's hard to listen to."
Yep, very much.
So many bands of the genre especially from that era do this + the valley girl inflection, and you know they don't fucking sound like that in normal conversation, it sounds super put-on and aimed directly at 14 yr olds, I fully don't understand how any grown adult can listen to it and be like "this is fine."
