It’s been out for less than three whole days, so yeah I imagine some people might be. I’ve only heard it once, so technically it’s still in my ‘rotation’. However, the new Sigur came out on the same day and I’ve given that one more time thus far (probably for a reason).

I've only listened to this 1.234 times so far, had an abandoned second spin
The horrible truth no one wants to acknowledge is there's been a decline ever since 'Songs for the Deaf' and even 'Like Clockwork' was part of that decline.
Dunno if it was the 'scary one' leaving but every ounce of punk spirit seemed to depart with him...and that was the bit that I think made the band 'non stodgy' and a little unpredictable.

"Paper Machete" was cool, other than that this is a snooze fest

Like Clockwork wasn’t a decline for me, but it was perhaps lightning in a bottle. Seems like an outlier, rather than part of the overall trend. Based on a lot of the reactions to QOTSA on here, I think plenty of people are willing to admit they’re declining and have been for a while.

Obscenery is straight up unlistenable ngl, just ugly clashing tones and cringey divorced dad lyrics. Paper Machete was alright tho even though it's arguably even more divorced

new foo fighters is light years better than this
also re: mutoid man... not sure they are very good even as a huge cave in fan

Paper Machete is ‘Hate To Say I Told You So’ with Little Sister’s solo redone at the end.
I was glad to get to the end of this album. Nothing was able to keep me entertained upon first listen, with the exception of the closing track. Maybe it’s a grower.

Both this and the new Foo Fighters are bland as all hell pieces of modern rock

I find the production and songs to be catchy enough for sure but man, this REALLY plays it safe. I miss like others said when they had some edge or aggression in their music in any capacity and that era seems dead from them.

I’ve heard this three times now and I still can’t remember any of the riffs except for Paper Machete and Sicily

‘Like Clockwork wasn’t a decline for me, but it was perhaps lightning in a bottle. Seems like an outlier’
It’s the best album since Lullabies for sure, but it’s painfully ‘mature’ and mid tempo - it’s fine but it’s a beneficiary of ‘In Rainbows’ syndrome.
Yes it’s good but it benefits for being the best album by a ‘classic band’ since the internet echo chamber was fully established
In Rainbows is the 4th best Radiohead and similar with Clockwork, it gets smoke blown up it’s ass

please don’t tell me The Bends is one of the three ‘better ones’? 🫣

They level peg for me - ‘Rainbows’ is like a millennial update tbh
Joint 3rd maybe
Computer and Kid A are inarguably top 2

can we plz not flood this lost cause of a thread with godawful radiohead opinions thank you

In Rainbows is clearly a Bends reboot - the rockers n’ the ballads are equally placed in the order
Nude and Jigsaw are the most obviously Bends songs but yeah, they have the same spirit innit
The two most ‘agreeable’ RH albums

Anyway…Clockwork is a bit mature and stodgy, quite well written but there can only be one reason everyone under 30 rated it their best.
Recency and personal association. Which is fine. But.

I dunno it's borderline unlistenable on a few tracks tbh. Homme's vocals feel super irritating to me.
|

if recency and personal association was all it took to appeal to an under-30s audience, goodness knows the reception of your takes would be in better shape
ed. okay it is too late brb gonna check some fugazi
