To fulfill his vision, Austin prevented the girls from going to school, kept them from making friends outside the family, and — perhaps counterintuitively --wouldn't allow them to listen to music, as the sisters told BBC 4 interviewer Jon Ronson in 2011.

blame npr if this is false :]

i just feel bad for these girls, they were forced to make this atrocity. maybe that's why people are pretending to like it.

If this was released today note for note, line for line, by three untalented women that were related like these girls, do you think it would be heralded as this avant garde masterpiece or rightfully shat on for being complete shit? There's no deeper intrinsic meaning behind this, no good intentions, it was a forcefully made abomination that just makes me feel terrible for the girls. Somewhere in an alternate universe (or here idk) I hope they're doing well for themselves and got away from that freakshow father.

If this album was hypothetically released in 2020 what would its hypothetical reception be in the year 2070?

I am very intelligent

Yeah like I hate this but I do have a heart. I'd like to imagine these three got away from their father and did something they actually enjoyed and excelled at after this.

Haven't heard it (thanks to its absence on streaming...I rarely pirate nowadays) but something tells me I'd most likely dislike it.

if this album was made and released in 2020 or just about anytime since youtube, child services would get probably involved like one of those parent-'pranking'-children channels. i have unironically sat thru this album least 25 times and i have almost made some slight sense of it, i think the drum track went out of sync in mixing[ontop of being off time] and the guitarlines just follow the vocals. it's amazing this got pressed but there's much worse music-by-amateurs these days
