Damn I remember thinking they had a cool sound with those first two EPs, then they kinda fell off my radar.
I had know idea they blew tf up. They’re playing some big festivals and have 2 mil listeners on Spotify

Vocals are an acquired taste, I found him a bit weird at first but eventually grew to appreciate his unique voice. Although...with a more traditionally "emo" timbre I'd probably have this 5'd by now.

At least vocal wankery isn’t as prominent as in the previous album

They hear a trap beat and immediately think its shit, let them go back to their doom metal and black metal ideas that has been recycled for decades now

This might be the best album I've ever heard, and I feel like I've listened to a lot of music in my life. Anyone comparing Sleep Token to bands like Imagine Dragons is so out of their damn minds that I can only assume they're being contrarian for attention, because I refuse to believe anybody can have that wrong of an opinion.

Metal fans are so stuck in their comfort zone anything that's abnormal they immediately spit it out, is all that's happening here

Sounds like the Finn McKenty way of thinking, lol
OMG, trap metal is the sound of the future! Oh yeah, and I guess there's all that doom metal garbage over there... fuck those sweaty basement-dwelling nerds

He's also a genius clairvoyant. Dude is going to make a lot of money playing below his skillz. Just ride it out until the sleep god tells someone in the band to sleep with a minor and bail.

so pop r&b and hip hop is in metal fans comfort zones is it?

I actually quite like these guys and enjoyed this album quite a bit, but whenever I listen to Sleep Token’s softer songs, I can’t help but think they’d fit right into the cheesy romance scenes in Grey’s Anatomy. So I’m dubbing them Grey’s Anatomycore from here on out. Sick album though

Hit em Koris!!!
Really not a fan of some of the weird song-writing choices these guys make.
Some parts really feel shoehorned in

"so pop r&b and hip hop is in metal fans comfort zones is it?"
Even if it's not, this band is hardly providing the most compelling of interpretations of alt r&b and pop, are they?

Seriously though, Finn is one of the worst music Youtubers ever. Such a fucking hack and hypocrite, not to mention horrendously condescending. I love how he made a video around the beginning of 2023 saying he would be better, and then proceeded to keep shitting on every fanbase known to man. Not to mention the fact that his wife directly contradicts all the values he supposedly upholds. Good times
