Go for it straight my man, really worth your time. Having a chance to be on one of their two Bilateral anniversary shows was one of my postpandemic life highlights, that's how good this album (and being able to see it performed live in entirety) is

Feeling tired after too much work/impressions. For the moment the first half is a perfect soundtrack to my mood. The second half will probably be the shit within a week.

Bad Demon!
I think the album fully hits its stride on "Atlantic," but "Unconformities" is definitely the high point, no argument there.
The album is just very difficult to ingest on first go, at least it was in my experience. It's not in-line with expectations, but excels in its own way in a different approach. Owing to what Chippe said, it's definitely not a traditional Ocean rocker, more of a soothing, yet simultaneously uncomfortable journey through modernity and contemporary issues. The synth-heavy route works wonderfully in that regard.

Yea I def need some time before listening again, huge The Ocean fan as I am. But this has potential to be a 4.5 I think

The first two songs could‘ve developed into something greater if they made them longer and went further with them. I kinda feel they are missing that final climax.
Do you think this album would be better if the first three songs would be spread out more among the other songs? Right now I feel the urge to just start with Atlantic right away tbh.

tbh I think I undersold the role of the brass additions, they add so much life to every song. Very valuable supporting element.

Nah to your point and thedoom's (forgot to reply sorry), the first half is very much build-up oriented and as such can fall flat on their own or run the risk of losing a listener. As a sort of 'exposition dump' for the sonic palette of the album, I think it establishes a fine foundation, and the overall sound in play is engaging to me.
"Sea of Reeds" could be cut, "Preboreal" is too short, I can agree there. In context, I find both still work, even if they are flawed in their own ways.

Damn, they had an update on their page about Peter going through a rough patch and seeking therapy. Hope everything is okay, he left such an amazing mark on this album and really helped make it come together.
