Eventually going to give this band another shot. I like Thrill Seeker cause it’s fun and Messengers was cool for a bit in high school, but nothing else ever clicked 🤷

It’s like a neat time capsule to a very special time in core

Very cozy

A dude in Marching band gave it to me for a Secret Santa gift when my taste in heavy music was blossoming back in like 2005 and he’s since passed away so the album is a little special to me because of that. Even back when Messengers came out tho neither of us liked it nearly as much as Thrill Seeker and nothing they’ve done since then has captured my attention to nearly the same degree. Haven’t heard the last couple

I’m sorry for your loss! Can totally see why you’d have more tied to Thrill Seeker. I also feel like TS scratches a different itch compared to their other stuff

Like with Norma Jean’s “Bless the Martyr” and their post-Scogin work

It's good but nah, Constellations is best.

For me the added progressive tendencies, clean vocals (which elevate every song they're in), and "Reckoning" as a whole are pushing this one over the top. The jury's out on if I like this MORE than Invent Animate (which is more immediately emotionally captivating and a bit more dynamic) but they're veerrryy close to eachother. Suddenly I don't think Sleep Token's going to clean-sweep.

God, The Abyss hits for me.

Cleansing and Reckoning are carrying this hard for me. Rest is great but I probably listen to those 3 times for any other song

"do i have to listen to this"

no but if you've ever enjoyed a release from this band there are a handful of pleasant moments. If you don't like this band it's safe to avoid

Cleansing, Reckoning, and Dark Divide are enough to make me want to keep revisiting. It goes by quickly. This thing just rules

Not gonna waste a single second of my life on anyone who doesn't think that Dark Divide is a 10/10 song
