It really doesn't. Lots of albums inspired by deaths of close animals or humans. This will go down to 4,1 at some point. It's excellent but definitely not the best album ever, not at all.

Just an opinion on the song Whispers.
Brendan Murphy doesn't care what the world thinks, and when he feels extreme pain in the face of his cat's death, he uses correspondingly strong phrases to express that pain.
edit:
He has no intentional escalation of emotion in this song at all. That's just the way he really is. When he shouts Make Your Cancer Mine, he's really thinking that he would absolutely like to suffer for his cat. That is why this person and this song is emotionally provocative

Not sure anyone is saying that. Whispers is not why I gave this a 5, or even one of the strongest tracks on the album. It just adds another layer of emotion.
