I didn’t listen to Schlagenheim—kinda remember listening to the last one and not liking it. I feel like on this album they’re trying to give unabashed pleasure, that maybe there isn’t so much “counterpoint” to the avant-sugar rush—but I do like it. It’s fun. They’re putting on a show

Yeah honestly I think I could get down to this much more in the live setting, much how I kinda hate listening to/watching musicals pre-recorded but enjoy them in person. It’s just not a style of music I really feel like engaging with for my “regular” listening.
I did like this a tad more than Cavalcade on the first go, it feels like a slightly more refined version of what a lot of that was doing. Still feels a lot of the time like they’re trying to cram as many musical ideas into their songs as they can without letting most of them hang around long enough to set in or develop. I think I’m with Johnny that “Still” may be their best song yet though.
