I think if they shortened They Move (or maybe cut it altogether?), scrapped Past Tense and put Black Cathedral at the end, this would be a 5 for me

i might need another listen or two but definitely their best since obzen. jens is sounding better somehow?? weird considering he doesnt give a shit about his voice. there were also a fair amount of different vocal choices throughout which i appreciate, at least a lot by meshuggah standards.



some really amazing stank-face-inducing moments throughout. groovy as all hell. some of the latter songs get a bit samey. need more time with them.



loved a lot of the clean and ambient sections, especially the black cathedral and past tense. meshuggah love making a meandering atonal outro but they seemingly made it not boring this time!
