Spirit Boy is my favourite here. Overall, lacks the punch of the predecessor though

'Spirit Boy' is one of the weaker songs for me but I get the impression this is the sort of album where everyone will have a different favourite.

I haven't heard their other albums. Are the orchestral elements and strings part of all their music?

I've never heard of this band before. As I check them out, I'm not entirely sure if their more upbeat, danceable songs are my thing, but after listening to "hand of god" and "goal of the century" and almost tearing up while following along with the lyrics - it's clear this is a special album.

Yeah, I welled up too on the first song. Gotta say, they know how to write an emotional line.

both of you listen to Go Farther in Lightness. It's their best.

Their previous album has more guitars and bigger dynamics and that's definitely for the better. Strings are take the lead melody sometimes and I always like that.

Been avoiding this for a while cause I'm not always in the best place for a dead dad record, but after a couple listens I am very much in love with this. Will hold off on a rating until I get a good lyrics listen in, maybe tonight

Monster review as well. The context provided was beautifully done

@dmathias52

I know that feeling. I hope you feel better soon. It's never a good feeling to have that anxiety on you. When it controls what you enjoy, that can be very hard.

Wait, is this not a SowingCore band? Why did I think it is?

"Gang of Youths shed the shell of their former Springsteen-worshipping guitar rocker selves"

Not an objective improvement. Their "Springsteen rock" had dynamics and variety and tracks were far less repetitive overall, making the listen enjoyable despite its length.

AIR is great, still, but it's kind of a drag. Would've been a lot better if there were more songs along the lines of "angel of 8th ave"

solid 4. but it's hard not to miss the distorted guitars and more rocking sound of Lightness.

there's a lot of percussion here that doesn't serve much of a purpose, agreed

Outside of the lyrics the percussion might be my favorite part here. I think this works incredibly well. I think this is a whole lot more interesting an engaging than Go Farther in Lightness. Maybe lacks that punchiness, but the lyrics balance that out

Brothers is very boring but the rest of this is a wonderful tribal percussion adventure
