Fair warning: When Static Dress drops their LP this year and it ends up being better than this, I'm gonna push the "UO is washed up and Static Dress is better" agenda super heavy.

This record is really meh, and I personally really want to like it.
I like how it sounds heavier, but it really is missing the melodies/riffs that I personally resonated with the most over the years.
Also, I know the band isn't really Christian anymore, but man Spencer's lyrics just come across as very juvenile in terms of anger and word choice.
I'll give the record a couple more tries but really nothing percolates to the top for me. And personally, Underoath has been the band I've seen live the most in my life, prob. 10+, so it's not like I haven't been a fan of their stuff before.

'The bowling alley burnt down
They said it was a cigarette, and I almost believed it
There were burns in the carpet
But everyone knows that
It was for the insurance"
We've had Spencer-tier shite lyrics before. Who tf be listening to Underoath for lyrics anyway

lyrics from dtgl-disam (disam particularly) are mostly pretty great and do a lot to add to the apocalyptic tone of those albums but yea prob not even in my top 5 favorite things about that stretch of the bands discog
