“Female lead vox are ear grating, though.”
Queen Sophie for Prez is amazing wtf

Yeah I've long wanted them to utilise her vox way more and happy they have on this

This is a superb prog-emo endeavor that sneakily feels a little like a Circa Survive album.
I think this is somewhere in the neighborhood of what I was thinking. There are a few bands I was trying to figure out where they sounded like, and I think I landed on Minus The Bear...up until the second half of "Invading The World...", when it turned into something I hope another band made a career out of and I just haven't explored. Some parts of it sound like Dance Gavin Dance, some of it sounds like Circa, even names like Karnivool came to mind just trying to find an analogue.
Well...whatever this is, it's absolutely in my wheelhouse, and it's such a pleasant surprise.

Trouble reminds me of Thursday's more melodic moments and I cannot put my finger on why

This has some very stiff AOTY competition (Iosonouncane, ahem), but this is right in the thick of things. Every single song here is monumental.

Queen Sophie reminds me of Rolo Tomassi.

can't even rank this one, just enjoy it straight through and appreciate all the different parts and variety. The drone tracks perfectly break it into thirds too (obviously with the final 'third' being crazy long)

Agreed 100%. While I stand by my ranking, I enjoy the entire thing start to end. Every track plays its role perfectly.

it's like so tight which is not something i could say about Harmlessness - not necessarily a bad thing but it's enjoyable how focused this is? is that a weird thing to think?

My boi Sowing with the right song at #1

Yeah @Slex Fewer Afraid is what makes this a 5 for me
@Project I love Josh, only reason it isn't higher is that it is just a little repetitive; I feel like they could have achieved the same effect in less time. I still like that part though ("At least it's life, at least for a while / It's a delicate dance") and love the breakdown that follows, so it's a minor complaint for sure, but on an album with so many perfect songs that's the difference for me.

Fewer afraid is in contention with January 10, 2014 for my favorite song of theirs ever

Listened to this a couple times through this morning and have decided the best 1-2 punch of the album is........ Died in the Prison --> Your brain. Glad Sowing at least acknowledged Died at 3!
I still standby the entire album and individual songs being unrankable for me.

That's a respectable take; there was a moment before Trouble sank in that Died in the Prison would have easily been my #2, maybe even tied for my #1. I love Rubbermaid's build up and peak, even if it's a short song. Feels like a big fanfare outro to Died in the Prison, which just further supports the idea that this album flows immaculately.

I have some possibly stupid questions because I'm not what you'd call a diehard fan of this band (although I'm becoming one after this album). I was hoping someone with extensive knowledge could fill me in because I think knowing the answer to these questions could make me like the band even more than I already do.
1) What is the meaning behind all the "infinite [name]" tracks across their discography? Is it just a gimmick or is there more to it?
2) I'm really drawn to the artwork here, and I've seen other album art (for instance on the YouTube stream of the album -- lol, I know) of the circle being completed. Is there any significance? Is it a play on the album's final verses (the world is a beautiful place / but we have to make it that way)?
3) What is the history of women in this band? I'm vaguely aware of some drama with a previous member and I know that's what the song Faker was about; what caused the falling out and who does the gorgeous backing/complementary vocals on Illusory Walls if it's not the original woman?
Sorry if a lot of this is common knowledge. Despite loving both this and Harmlessness I've never really done my homework on this band lol.

Oh god. Being a TWIABP lineup expert basically needs a college degree at this point. Just google it tbh. Or look at the absolutely insane Wikipedia chart
