I hate longwinded songs. A song can be 2 minutes long and too long or 15 and too short, it all depends on the songwriting. Tool sometimes spends too long on one riff, especially for the speed they play. You just want them to move on.

I can't think of one instance in a Tool song where I feel that way.

This cd bores the hell out of me. Parabola is a good song, and Schism is okay, but the rest is blah. It just feels like they try too hard.

I think people like this album because it makes them feel smart.
I agree with that comment 100% Fast Fingers, its definitely an awesome album, but not the best I've ever heard.
The Grudge and Lateralus are my favorites.

And by your comments there NuMetalMania, I could say the exact same statements. Don't try and argue yourself into a situation where all you have is rubbish.
As for the album, I think it is brillinant. Dreamy, heavy soft, clear and intense. I am a drummer so I adore the rhythm and the rest just ties in beautifully, I love long songs, much like classical and how that can weave itself into amazing areas I feel the same about Tool.
Review is a bit fan boy, but I could agree with every part of it...

While I think the album and production is unmatched and superior in some respects, there are some boring aspects of the album. Some songs are too monotonish, like the Patient.
But I need to emphasize how superior this album is in terms of quality. It was very well-done - it's just not as original or interesting as Aenima...too much sludge and monotone. Thew bloated aspect of this fantastic album is what keeps it from being a 5/5.

It happens, my comments went down by about 150.
I dug this out the other day and fell in love with it all over again. Simply amazing, still. Reflection is great, as is Parabola.

My favorite album of all time. The Patient is amazing.

Too bad there's no Tool on iTunes. I was gonna download a song or two but they don't have 'em.

I noticed that, too. Tool aren't featured on a lot of internet databases. They probably don't want to be a part of iTunes for some reason. Maybe it's for copyright or creative reasons.

Ah well that sucks, I don't have an iPod so I don't care :p

You don't need an iPod to use iTunes. You can burn CD's and stuff with it too.

I can't stand the user compatibility of iTunes. I find it rediculous, as do I find Windows Media Player rediculous.
WinAmp all the way.
As for Lateralus, said it before, but it's my favourite album. I just love it's aura, and complexity.

IMO, the best album ever made besides the wall... Tool is hands down the most artistic band to ever form... So damn talented and smart. 5/5

This was a great review, i really appreciate a good review because this album as well as all the other Tool albums damn well deserved it.
Their music is so soothing and just flat out awsome, always good to listen to when angry- sad.
Their music is so different in a good way.
Really appreciated the review.

One thing I hate -- people who hate Tool because they claim "Tool isn't heavy enough" (Get over it, you son-of-a-bitch heavy metalhead) or "Tool has no talent" (What are they thinking?). I noticed that, too. Tool aren't featured on a lot of internet databases. They probably don't want to be a part of iTunes for some reason. Maybe it's for copyright or creative reasons. It might be beacuse of the reason it was taken off Napster. This Message Edited On 01.31.06
