I keep going back and forth on how much I like this, on one hand you have a couple of gorgeous melodies and I appreciate the effort in creating light out of darkness - both sonically and thematically, but at the same time it doesn't always hit home. Despite the potential for contradiction it somehow survives this, yet simultaneously ends up sounding a touch homogenous (as many of the individual cuts do little to separate themselves from each other). I could quite happily pick a couple of the better tracks here (Clickbait, The Currency of Beauty) and just listen to them in isolation instead.

I think that's where I'm at, will no doubt change my mind again next time I hear this.

I think they differentiate themselves much more than they get credit for in all honesty. Not each one breaks incredible new ground, but the riffs are all compelling and the rhythm work flexes some great dynamics.

Still not enough people giving props to the drumming to be honest, it is solid stuff

I really dig the drumming on this especially on Currency of Beauty

The amount of discourse on whether or not this is interesting as a whole-album experience is almost impressive at this point.

Debut is better as a whole album, individual tracks here perhaps better but a little samey

I don't really get this sense of sameyness going down, think they distinguish from each other rather well.

@Evok: it’s honestly much more interesting than a barrage of ‘rules’ and ‘this sucks’ comments ad nauseam.

I do actually enjoy this, it’s just that at one point I thought it might prove even more fruitful.

I kinda like it. Better than it being a jock riding party for 10 pages and then never getting bumped again.

I don't mind good discussion either, it keeps things moving along!

Ironically, the above comment killed the discourse for now.
