Kinda missing the point here. Like you said, most people dgaf about actually discovering stuff on their own. They want it to be right in front their face, just like Blink FOB Paramore MCR etc. were 10-20 years ago back when distorted guitars were actually "cool" in the mainstream. This album's success is sort of a throwback to that for a lot of people which is why I think it has such rabid defenders. Just straight nostalgia for an era they lived/wished they grew up in... but also something that I think can realistically be sustained for couple years. All kinds of big name rappers are dropping/have rock albums in the works now, and a lot of older artists like All Time Low and ofcourse Travis Barker/blink are even embracing the shift to the more autotune/hip hop leanings. Rock is "cool" and actually innovative in the mainstream again with tons of new faces, and it's cool to see even if just ends up being a short lived trend.

If it weren't this, it'd be something else. Says more about what money and marketing does for a thing and less about the quality of the content therein. This is toothless rock. Gummed out. lmao And rock doesn't need a record with weak Top 40 songs like this to stay alive or to be cool.
I just don't particularly care for it. I'll talk shit, but that doesn't mean somebody else can't like it either. But, to reiterate, I'll still talk shit. lol Cause most of it is just sounds lame, and it did in the 2000s too.

i like some of finn's vids but i do get the feeling he just cares too little for quality and gives more importance on the cultural relevance (if any) or the sense of enjoyment something might bring, which oddly are two things people point out about this album so much (that its a stylistic shift from a "mainstream" artist and that for how lame it might be its still quite catchy)

Precisely why I like his vids so much. Dude makes well informed and put together videos building up bands and scenes that the "music establishment" for lack of better word never gives the light of day... typically from some sort of business/marketing viewpoint. It's just a fresh perspective/content niche that nobody else really does. I hate quite a bit of the music he covers, but I always come away with a new perspective on things.

new song with CORPSE is good and if you know about the youtube/streaming side of things, the video they made for it is really fuckin cool too. even if it's just a diet-lyrical lemonade vid, still such a super fun track if you like some really EDGY type of SHIT

Is it though? Bands have been using auto tune and rap styles in rock for a lot longer than you think. Let’s compare this with Linkin Park - Linkin Park is diverse, hard hitting and original, with a careful and solid blend of rock and rap/hip hop. I’m not the biggest LP fan, but I can respect what they created and a lot of bands also tried to follow the same trends.
This is just Blink182 + a rapper who writes trite surface-level lyrics that convey absolutely no passion or edge. Saying that this music succeeds because of nostalgia completely contradicts the fact that it’s innovative. It’s relying on Blink/early 2000s pop punk tropes that are easily marketable to musically-apathetic listeners or just for radio play. In 10 years, are people going to be listening to this, or just going back to Blink 182 for their nostalgia fix?
I’d say this album is far more regressive than innovative because it’ll show new bands or people who want to make music that relying on trends from two decades ago can make you successful instead of carving your own path and making something original.
This mindset gives birth to artists like LILHUDDY, who is apparently massive on TikTok and is somehow cited as "an important figure in the 2020s pop-punk revival". He also apparently has worked with MGK and appears in some of his videos. The second song is actually getting radio play in my area, which is just sad:
