A Dawn To Fear is on a whole other level. I jammed it yesterday, coincidentally, and Lights on the Hill alone makes it 5 worthy.

Jurassic is such a beast of a song.
Gotta get on Cult of Luna.

I feel like Wavering Radiant by Isis would be a good album to check for anyone who digs this and wants to get more into post-metal. Like this, Wavering Radiant leans a lot into prog, which might make it an easier transition than plunging into something that is more purely post metal.

Really dig Oligocene. This album is shapping up for a very high rating.

Sweet man, not too big on this band at all but Precambrian is cool.
Jurassic makes me wanna check this out too, one of the songs of the year.

it's not a bad place to start, as someone who vaguely listened to part 1

Fair comment on Wavering Radiant though, definitely seems like it would be a smoother transition for prog-heads. I would never try and steer anyone away from Dawn/CoL in general, but WR is amazing anyway, so either way I'm happy.

It's a great album but the first part lacks greatness. From Lights on the Hill till.the end is perfect.
I put Salvation a Eternal kingdom first. And maybe SatH, the only meh track is Dim.
Wavering radiant is the best Isis album. 5/5

"are dinosaurs reptiles even though they're like...avian?"
yes i do think so. Since birds descended from the dinosaurs they are grouped together in the same clade (dinosauria). The classic group of dinosaurs are called non-avian dinosaurs while birds are considered avian dinosaurs. While some families of dinosaurs are very closely related to birds (for example the raptors), as far as i'm aware they are still considered reptiles.
I even saw some suggestions that modern birds should be classified as reptiles, but i don't know if that's widely acccepted
I'm also not an expert though, just someone who is interested
