Jamming this today and a description of the album online mentioned that its release in 1993 coincided with a decline in the popularity of death metal and Roadrunner dropped Gorguts from their roster

Can anyone speak to this moment in time or just that timeline in general? I wasn’t aware that death metal ever declined in popularity in the ‘90s
