yeah, other than the fact that Null should be way higher (criminally underrated here) the averages are pretty good for this band

Second listen, this still sounds super dry and boring to me.

Prehistoricisms was neat, though. Might delve more into their old stuff

Yeah I don't see any issue with the drums here, Rudinger shreds

I dont have 'issues' with the drums, as I said earlier in the thread tho there is more to a performance than technical proficiency, and the old drummers absence is felt in that regard. He was one of the two most interesting performers in the band, quite irreplaceable imo.

danny was special agree, but rudinger certainly doesnt need to hide behind him at all. if u havent alrdy go check out his fast worms cover and his cubensis playthru, might convince ya

Tbh Cubensis is my least fav intronaut song ever recorded so doubtful lol

I dont especially need convincing that hes a great drummer, I'm familiar with his work, the old guy was just really something special for me is all. An exaggerated example: replacing les claypool. You could get the best bass player on the planet but it just still wouldnt be the same.

seeing how close they are alphabetically in my library, another example of a mehh lineup change was with the bassist of Incubus. dude was the pocket and had a groove that the other guy didn’t have.

Tryna think of examples of really good replacements for already good members now. Honestly dillinger did well with their drummers. Especially liked the ire works guy

Or rather 'suitible' replacements, as sometimes a replacement is technically good but just doesnt fill the same hole

DT replacing Portnoy with Mangini was similar, but that was because Portnoy quit.

Saw these lads opening for CoL. They played solidly, and shit, the vocals even sounded better live than they do on here. Lame part was their entire set was 4 songs from this and nothing else

They had an inflatable blow up version of Joe Lester to replace him though so that almost made up for it

How was CoL?
