it is spastic indeed...love more as I spin. I called it random as well...
Apparently I enjoy random shit now and then...lol

Tell us about that time you got peking duck and a burger together Doof, I'll be steeply disappointed if there isn't a story here

I have a buddy whose favourite restaurant is one of those where you can order anything from like 20 different cuisines - a 300 item menu job.
The boy has no taste.
I would prob enjoy duck followed by a burger though, think the example was rushed....lasagna with a cheesecake side? Dunno

Idk...totally feeling the comparison, I just think this has a delicious vibe..its an unlikely combination for sure though...

Oh damn, but does he have the appetite for it and do they have an all-you-can-eat?
"lasagna with a cheesecake side?" THIS haunts my dreams
|
| |
I'm also feeling the comparison but I guess the fact I dig this transfigures it into...idk, tequila + a latte? Now there's a duo I could slam back...

This has to have vanilla...not that I am a fan of vanilla per se...just feels me like vanilla icecream on the smooth parts

'The more quiet/ambient sections don't progress like the heavy sections...too bi-polar for me, totally opposite styles of compositional design and writing and it's just random'
Hmm... I'm gonna disagree here, although I can see why someone would think that. The first couple of spins were overwhelming and nonsensical, but once you start to unpack it a little, you notice how well the transitions are handled. Little precursors here, thematic development there. It's actually remarkable how much sense this journey ends up making after a while and I say that as someone who is still some way off from fully understanding everything. I just know that so far, it gets better every time.

Doof, if you want a more consistent sound, you should probably stick with Sanity

The clean segments just straight up aren't nearly as well composed or thought out as the distorted segments. It's like the band spent a fuck load of time developing a dope ass Ryu, then entered a Street Fighter tournament as Balrog, a character they've never played, who operates on completely different concepts, and got mollywhopped. They aren't bad at Street Fighter/songwriting, they are just bad at Balrog/non-metal. Shifting a small handful of basic chords chromatically and playing a pentatonic solo over the top consisting entirely of straight alt picking and no left hand techniques feels very indicative of a painfully lazy approach to a fairly core aspect of the record.
This wouldn't be a problem if the distorted segments weren't of such high quality both technically and conceptually. It's probably why shit like The Battle of Chamdo worked on Colored Sands; it's a single track and Luc put a buttload of time into studying classical composition before daring to write a classical piece of his own for a record. I don't get the idea the same care went into the shit Seizures attempted here, and it persists through much of the album.

I think those segments are damn original, well done and set this apart tbh...you're just coming from a starting point that they are lazy because they don't have a left hand and haven't studied this type of composition well enough (?)...I think, if any, that contrast was meant and thought (not to mention how sweet and beautiful aesthetically they are), albeit simple/ not intricate. I'm glad it's not a TSU II. Band is showing they can change the narrative of their sound through new aesthetics....super cool imo. Its OK you don't like those though.

I'd hate to know that much about music composition/theory, would likely ruin my enjoyment of anything and everything.

Or at least it forces you to only enjoy Gorguts apparently...ahah....joking! ramon. likes this. He 3.5d it, just mentioned what bugs him as an unearthed scholar.

I'm just disappointed his comment made mine look so unsophisticated in comparison. He's right about 'The Battle of Chamdo' though, so I can't be too mad.

Everyone with ears and good taste can disagree though...I'm listening to the music, not making it.

I'm sorry, but did he just compare this album to Street Fighter? I can't decide if that's amazing or fucking stupid.
