Do you mean that people should be allowed to like a nazi's music? That doesn't really bother me. I haven't stopped listening to a lot of the music I liked before I knew the musicians were bad people, I just stopped supporting them monetarily. The thing with fascists and the like is that there aren't passive fascists like there are passive members of other political ideologies, there are no fascists that believe in their ideology but do no advocacy for it, they're always politically active. By the nature of the ideology every fascist is guilty of some form of harm so it's hard to justify ignoring them.

Most def shouldn't be ignored. I'm just afraid of censorship - it empowers them.

I've gotten the sense that the opposite is true a lot of the time. 4chan for example became a hive of nazis because there was no moderation, it was simply left to be whatever it could be and it became a nazi safe space because there was no censorship on hate speech. Milo yiannopolous (however you spell that dumbfuck's name), while not a nazi presumably, was thrown out of the mainstream because of his stupid pedo comments and now cries incessantly about how he's in debt, makes no money and what remains of his fanbase are intolerant fascists that trash on him for being gay.

In the US we have a huge problem with our education system and when white supremacists get a platform, their rhetoric will resonate with the mass ignorant no matter whether it's been reeled back for a public platform or if it's full mask off. Trusting public discourse to beat nazis on its own is kinda naive imo, though I have no problem with a nazi getting platformed if it's with someone that will appropriately pushback on their rhetoric.

I've seen misled christians, misled muslims, misled atheists, misled nihilists, misled Deafheaven lovers, never seen misled Nazi sympathisers. They know exactly what they believe in. Given that, I will never offend anyone giving praise to artists who are somehow connected to that kind of ideologies because they simply like their music, even if I disagree. On the other hand, i give strong points of naivety to those who think that all of this awareness around Nazi flavor on BM scene is somehow destroying freedom of speech. And if someone supports this is a witch-hunt, it's mainly because we have to do with witches.

Well, I agree more than disagree with that. It's just hard to get the priorities right, because they're such a diverse bunch of fuckups from all parts of society. But they are also our neighbours, if you know what I mean.

Nice hippie dig.

Skyclad, 1992:

"See the red "messiah" high upon a soap-box pulpit

Agitating his apostles with the gospels in his hand

While apprentice hitlers gather down in inner city subways

To immortalise their ignorance with aerosol spray cans.

These tattered battle standards fly - their colours do not run

Unlike our tears that trickle down the decades soon to come.

You promised us a "Golden Age" - we couldn't wait to try it

But never told us of the blood we'd have to shed to buy it."

So topical.

Why must brother kill his brother - when united they should stand?

I would actually argue that most nazis are misled. From what Ive seen most people that fall in that alt right white nationalist region are uneducated, usually disenfranchised and with a propensity for mental illness. People tend to be tribal as long as we still a lot of places dominated by single races so while the ideology is to be reviled, I do try to extend a little charity to them and say that they can be helped.

The figureheads though have fewer excuses, there are well educated people in charge that spread their beliefs around and I can’t be as charitable to them.

Tbh a lot of nazis are just people with a lot of anger and issues within the self looking for something to latch onto-something to explain the misgivings of life. It's a sad and slippery slope for one to go down but it's redeemable. My closest friend used to be incredibly anti Semitic until he realized he couldn't pin his own fucked up life on something entirely undeserving. So it is a redeemable path at least.
