Ok this is pretty lovely, if a bit overlong.

I can see the appeal of this way ahead of the Kacey Musgraves sort of stuff

I mean Kacey has good hooks and has a clear sense of conviction in her lyrics so

I read that as 'Kacey has good looks' which checks out I guess.

Both releases have their fair share of engaging and nondescript material, with a couple of notable highlights between them. Mostly just 'nice enough'.

They're both MOR at heart - not that that's a terrible thing in and of itself...but not really the sort of stuff to ever excite me.

Just not the background listening I'd reach for. This is a bit closer to something I'd put on - take the four best here and make up an EP and I'd spin it occasionally maybe.

Generally agreed but at least you could go to a Kacey concert and have a wholeheartedly good time

I mainly have this at 'good' for Venice Bitch alone, or it helps the bridge the gap into that 'net positive' territory at least, Golden Hour was similar in that regard.

I'd say the way the first three songs flow here is what props this up a bit and stops it venturing into 'poor' territory.
