Just because you can doesn't mean you should. I need to check this again but I'm not particularly hopeful thus far. All style over substance and those vocals are so grating.

I don't blame anyone for the song lengths tbh, but it never really bothered me all that much.

Personally I thought Baroness's last album had much more wank than this

I guess the acclaim comes from their genuinely expert craft as jazz fusion/prog so they deserve that credit but they're so overrated.

I think they do the long songs just fine. I listened to Anchor 3 times in a row today while I was driving. I don't think I have ever done that with a 10 min song before.

"Chromology" wears out its welcome a teensy little bit yeah, it's still excellent but I do prefer the instrumentals on Maps and Heads. Especially Maps - "Suspicious Waveforms" is possibly their very best song

This will definitely be a grower. I'm really digging "Geronimo" and, of course, "FXMLDR". I think I'm digging the darker tones from "Stranger Heads Prevail" so far, but this still great.

I like FXMLDR a lot, but sadly it kind of tapers off for me after that. And it doesn't help that this is 90 minutes long.

I like the vocals. Catchy. Summery. Fun. Perfect prog for this time of year.

"Like chromology goes on and on and on and on lol" Hey Mongi, that's the best track on here...and makes me think an instrumental piece should be considered.

Chromology does the “long instrumental” thing way better than Rube Goldberg Variations imo. I couldn’t really stand RBV on Stranger Heads for whatever reason but I’m in love with Chromology

This band's output serves as a reminder of how badly I need to listen to more actual jazz

For some ‘actual jazz’ that was released this year check Fire! Orchestra, best thing I’ve heard in 2019. Dewi wrote a stellar review if you need further persuasion.
