I feel like a lot of his older stuff only reveals its true quality when he plays it live. Take m'lover for example, it was SO much better live with all the loops and effects he put on his voice and violin. Album version sounds kind of gimmicky in contrast.
This album in contrast is way more grandiose in its production and benefits from this. IMO why it stands out it feels like a significantly better project
